Plaster Skimming

This can be in many different ways depending on the given surface, In some cases for walls in good condition it would be a standard PVA glue prior to application of plaster.

For bad condition walls such as wallpaper stripped walls, every last bit of paper needs to be removed prior to application of PVA and plaster coating.

For bad condition walls, In some cases a SBR glue or blue grit is required to enable plaster to bond to the surface.

Plaster Boarding

Dry lining techniques include Over boarding existing walls, PVA to brickwork and dry lining the plasterboard to the walls with drywall adhesive whilst making sure the walls are level using a straight-edge and a level.

In wet areas such as bathrooms and kitchens, moisture boards and tanking are required depending on the existing surface, another way is to sand and cement with waterproof or damp-proof plaster to achieve best results.

Insulated plasterboard options – Stud walls made up timber joists with added insulation on the inside prior to plaster-boarding, insulated can be used depending on the specification of the existing walls.

Internal Plastering Preparation:

Internal plastering preparation involves a few different key techniques dependant on the current surface we are dealing with.

• Pre-Bonding
• PVA Glue Application
• Blue Grit Application
• Tanking Application
• Damp-proofing
• Sand and Cement floating
• Over-boarding by Dot & Dabbing or Timber Stud-work

Each process ensures the surfaces are prepared and ready for plaster skimming.
